Installation
- Cut Smartboard to required sizes and make necessary cut-outs.
- Fit the ends and edges closely but not forced together
- Stagger end joints in successive courses
- Fasten Smartboard to studs
- In double layer walls where Smartboard is installed over base-layer gypsum board, a water barrier is required over the gypsum board.
InstallationFill the space between the edge of the Smartboard and the receptor with flexible sealant.
- Smartboard is fastened to studs in a straight plane to within 1" of the bottom of shower pad or waterproof membrane
- When using a molded or precast shower receptor, it should be installed so that the edge of the Smartboard sits on the lip of the receptor.

Subfloors
- Apply multi-purpose adhesive to center of top flange of joists.
- Place exterior grade plywood sheets on joists.
- Fasten plywood to joists with adhesive and suitable nails or screws

- Laminate 7/16" Smartboard to subfloor.
- Smartboard then must be fastened to subfloor with wood screws or galvanized roofing nails.
- Allow 1/8" wide space between panels to be filled solid with dry-set or latex-portland cement mortar. For best results, joints should be taped.
Installation
- Smartboard panels are scored and snapped to desired dimensions
- When installing Smartboard over solid backings, the fasteners must be long enough to penetrate the solid backing and anchor to the approved setting materials.
